Former captain of the national team, Shahid Afridi, while speaking on a private TV program, said that before the start of Pakistan Super League 8, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, Nadeem Umar, had consulted me. He was told to feed Sarfraz as a player so that he can perform well. They should be under pressure of their performance instead of the team and they can enjoy their game. Shahid Afridi further said that the reason for the continuous defeat of Quetta Gladiators in PSL 8 is the team management strategy. Every team should have a player on the bench who can replace a player when he is out, but this strategy is nowhere to be seen in the Quetta Gladiators team.
